About the Role

ET2C International is seeking an experienced, commercially aware and highly organised Merchandiser to join our Yiwu team.

The role is responsible for supporting the complete sourcing and order-management process, from receiving customer RFQs and identifying suitable suppliers through quotation, product development, sampling, production follow-up, quality coordination and final delivery.

The successful candidate will work closely with Sourcing Managers, Business Development Managers (BDMs), Sales, QA/QC, Purchasing and Logistics teams to ensure customers receive competitive pricing, appropriate products, consistent quality and reliable delivery.

The Merchandiser will also be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong supplier network, identifying new products and sourcing opportunities, and providing professional support to customers throughout the sourcing process.

Key Responsibilities

1. RFQ & Quotation Management

  • Review and analyse RFQs assigned by Sourcing Managers and/or BDMs.
  • Identify missing, unclear or conflicting product information and obtain clarification before approaching suppliers.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear specifications that can be accurately communicated to suppliers.
  • Contact existing approved suppliers and identify appropriate new suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Compare quotations across multiple suppliers, considering:
    • Product cost
    • Quality
    • Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)
    • Lead time
    • Payment terms
    • Tooling or development costs
    • Packaging requirements
    • Logistics considerations
    • Compliance and audit requirements
  • Work with Sourcing Managers and BDMs to benchmark pricing and ensure quotations remain commercially competitive.
  • Ensure proposed suppliers are capable of meeting ET2C and customer quality, compliance and audit requirements.
  • Prepare accurate and professional ET2C customer quotations using the company’s required format.
  • Follow up quotations with internal stakeholders and suppliers and respond promptly to changes in specifications, quantities or commercial requirements.

2. Supplier Sourcing & Development

  • Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers according to customer and business requirements.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with existing suppliers while continuously evaluating alternative sourcing options.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, MOQs, packaging requirements and other commercial conditions.
  • Compare suppliers based on overall value rather than price alone, including:
    • Quality

    • Production capability
    • Capacity

    • Lead times
    • Commercial competitiveness
  • Conduct supplier visits where required to assess capabilities and strengthen relationships.
  • Support supplier qualification and audit processes in collaboration with the relevant internal teams.
  • Maintain and develop a reliable supplier base capable of supporting current and future customer requirements.

3. Product Sourcing & Market Development

  • Continuously research and identify relevant new products and sourcing opportunities.
  • Monitor product, category and customer market trends to identify potential opportunities for ET2C clients.
  • Proactively propose suitable new products to Sourcing Managers, BDMs and customers.
  • Work with the Marketing team to prepare product presentations, sourcing proposals and other customer-facing materials.
  • Attend relevant exhibitions, trade fairs and sourcing events to:
    • Identify new suppliers
    • Discover new products
    • Monitor product and market trends
    • Develop supplier relationships
    • Expand ET2C’s supplier network
  • Maintain accurate information on new products, suppliers, pricing and sourcing opportunities.

4. Order Management

  • Manage assigned orders from initial confirmation through production and final delivery.
  • Review customer Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure all commercial and technical requirements are clearly understood.
  • Clarify discrepancies or missing information before production begins.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant product and order documentation.
  • Coordinate Pre-Production (PP) samples, approval samples and other required samples.
  • Ensure customer specifications, packaging, labelling, artwork and quality requirements are clearly communicated to suppliers.
  • Obtain appropriate approvals from customers and suppliers before mass production.
  • Maintain regular communication with suppliers throughout production.
  • Monitor critical production milestones and proactively identify potential delays or problems.
  • Manage unexpected production, quality or delivery issues and coordinate appropriate corrective action.
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed of order progress and material risks.

5. Quality Assurance & Quality Control Coordination

  • Work closely with ET2C’s QA/QC teams and suppliers to establish appropriate product quality requirements and inspection standards.
  • Ensure suppliers clearly understand customer specifications and quality expectations before production.
  • Coordinate inspections and quality-control activities according to agreed requirements.
  • Follow up on quality issues, corrective actions and re-inspections where necessary.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of product-quality problems.
  • Ensure quality concerns are escalated promptly to the appropriate Sourcing Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Work proactively with suppliers to prevent recurring quality issues.

6. Purchasing, Logistics & Delivery Coordination

  • Work closely with the Purchasing and Logistics teams to ensure orders are completed and shipped according to agreed schedules.
  • Monitor production completion dates and shipment readiness.
  • Communicate potential delays as early as possible and coordinate recovery plans where required.
  • Ensure relevant order and shipment information is communicated accurately between suppliers and internal departments.
  • Support the resolution of issues affecting production schedules, shipment dates or customer delivery requirements.
  • Maintain a strong focus on on-time delivery throughout the order lifecycle.

7. Systems & Data Management

  • Ensure all relevant supplier, product, quotation and order information is entered accurately and promptly into ET2C’s systems.
  • Maintain accurate information within the Accelerator system, including, where applicable:
    • Supplier/vendor information
    • RFQ and quotation data
    • Product information
    • PCT documentation
    • ET2C quotations
    • Order-related information
  • Work effectively with SAP and relevant internal systems.
  • Coordinate with MIS and other internal teams to ensure Sales Orders (SOs), Purchase Orders (POs) and related information are entered correctly.
  • Maintain complete and accurate sourcing and order documentation.
  • Ensure data is kept current throughout the sourcing and order-management process.

8. Customer & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as an effective communication link between:
    • Customers
    • BDMs
    • Sales teams
    • Sourcing Managers
    • Suppliers
    • QA/QC
    • Purchasing
    • Logistics
    • Marketing
  • Ensure customer requirements and expectations are clearly communicated throughout the sourcing and production process.
  • Provide timely updates regarding quotations, samples, production, quality and delivery.
  • Support BDMs and Sales teams in delivering a professional and responsive service to customers.
  • Manage customer expectations professionally when changes, delays or quality issues occur.
  • Provide practical solutions rather than simply reporting problems.

9. Supplier & Customer Visits

  • Visit suppliers and factories to strengthen relationships, assess capabilities and follow up on products or orders where required.
  • Support and coordinate customer sourcing and buying trips in China.
  • Arrange appropriate supplier and factory visits based on customer requirements.
  • Assist customers during supplier meetings, product reviews and sourcing activities.
  • Represent ET2C professionally during supplier, customer and exhibition visits.

10. Additional Responsibilities

  • Support Sourcing Managers with additional sourcing, merchandising and commercial activities as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of ET2C’s sourcing and order-management processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, product quality, commercial terms and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Sourcing Manager or management team.

Candidate Requirements Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in:
    • International Trade
    • Business
    • Supply Chain
    • Business English
    • Merchandising
    • Sourcing
    • Or another relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in international trade, sourcing, merchandising, procurement or a related commercial environment.
  • Practical experience working directly with Chinese suppliers and factories.
  • Experience managing RFQs, quotations, sampling, production follow-up and order execution.
  • Experience coordinating with QA/QC, purchasing and logistics teams.
  • Experience working with international customers or export
